At the beginning of November 2018, Günther Kasties, Managing Director of OECON Holding & Consulting GmbH, took part in the business delegation to China. The trip was accompanied by Lower Saxony’s Minister of Economics Althusmann and led to the stops Guangzhou/Foshan, Hangzhou and Shanghai. The trip focused on economic and political talks, networking events and company visits.

One of the main topics was the automotive sector and autonomous mobility systems. This has special relevance for OECON and thus for Günther Kasties, as the OECON Group is actively involved in the development of one of the largest test field areas for autonomous driving in Germany as a partner in the projects Test Field Lower Saxony (test field for connected and automated driving in Lower Saxony) and Digital Node 4.0 (automated and connected driving in the city). „A cross-border exchange of experience has now been agreed as part of the talks at the Ministry of Transport in Zhejiang Province. It is also planned that a Chinese delegation from Lower Saxony will visit the Hanover Fair next year, combined with a presentation of the test area in the Braunschweig area.“ (~ ME Lower Saxony)

The government of Lower Saxony specifically promotes and supports small and medium-sized enterprises as well as craft enterprises in opening up the Chinese market. The delegation trip was organized by the Ministry of Economics together with the Hanover Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Other key topics of the trip were digitalization, logistics and the trade fair industry.
